Clean

My apartment and life never look cleaner than right before my mother comes to visit.

Filing today under “really tough”

  • I had a pretty emotional argument with my dad about our relationship.
  • SW got in touch with me 10 days after I asked him not to contact me anymore.
  • And my sister had a seizure, and I was the only one there.

I held it together until about 20 minutes ago, when I got home, sat on my bed, and fell apart.

Growing up and relationships and people and life are just hard. Sometimes I think I don’t have the strength to handle it all.

The average American reads between one and five books a year

howthemidwestwaswon:

The life expectancy of the average American is 78.

That means, assuming they start reading books around the age of 8, the average American will read, at most, 350 books.

Americans need to start reading more.

Meanwhile, the average graduate student reads between three and five books A WEEK.

For those who care

I called SW last night and told him it hurt my feelings when he said things about other girls to me. He apologized; it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. Then again, he can’t know how I’m feeling, what I’m expecting, or what I want from him unless I tell him. So, for now, this will have to do, and next time we’re together in person, I’ll expand the conversation.

If there’s anything I am learning as I get older, it’s that openness and honesty are the only ways to form real relationships, in all of their pain and glory.
