Clarification

annaetc replied to your post<span >: <em >Superbowl Sunday

*enjoying football isn’t indicative of apathy, especially when it’s the Super Bowl, a once a year event.

My post about Superbowl Sunday actually was not saying that, “you’re all apathetic, uncaring people because you’re watching football and not thinking about the rest of the world.”

It was derived from looking at page after page of my tumblr dashboard and seeing post after post about the Superbowl and rarely a one (except for the political/international affairs tumblrs I follow) about world events. Posts about world events (again, except for the political/international affairs tumblrs I follow - or friends living abroad in these wrought locales) have appeared only sparsely on my dash at all this past week.

I guess what I’m really trying to say is, I know many people I follow are bright and aware and tuned in to the world, so why are we not blogging and talking about it here?

I really wasn’t trying to call people out (including myself, guys, since I’m clearly not doing anything about these situations, and I, too, am at a loss for what I can/could be doing).

I was merely posting some of my personal reflections about the world in reaction to what’s appearing - and not appearing - on my dashboard.

That’s all.
